AC vs DC EV charging: choosing the right charger for each site

AC charging (typically 3.7–22 kW) uses the vehicle‘s on-board charger and suits long-dwell locations — homes, offices and residential streets. It is cheaper, simpler and easy to scale. DC charging (20 kW and above) bypasses the on-board charger and delivers far more power, suiting short-dwell sites such as motorway services and fleet depots, but it costs more and needs a heavier supply.
A practical site often combines both: AC where cars park for hours, DC for rapid top-ups.
Shenzhen TDT manufactures both AC and DC chargers, plus pole-integrated AC units for street lighting, so a site can be covered with one supplier.
